School administrators in St. Petersburg say more kids are using e-cigarettes this year than in previous years. Middle and high school principal Ambler Moss said at a school board meeting that at least one group of kids is smoking e-cigarettes at school.
"Earlier this year, we did have four students smoking e-cigarettes in the bathroom," Moss said, "and the school didn't actually find a lot of kids smoking e-cigarettes, but students said there were others."
Charlotte Martin, 17, is the school board's student representative. She said e-cigarettes are not common, but some kids smoke them at school, possibly to look cool.
"You try to make yourself look cool," Martin said, "and maybe some of the younger ones will do something to try to fit in with some of the older kids ...... I think most would say that's not cool. It's kind of creepy."
