Smoking and vaping bans in Pensacola parks discussed.

The Pensacola City Council is currently discussing several proposals to be voted on next Monday, including a ban on smoking and vaping in parks.

The projects that were discussed on Monday will only be voted on and decided upon on Thursday.

Tommy Garland, from Vaper's Republic, hopes that the ban will not take effect.

He stated that even if it was only a ban within Pensacola's parks, business could still decrease.

Some suggest designating an area for smokers that is far from affecting others. Others propose banning smoking and e-cigarettes in places such as parks where dogs may roam since they could consume cigarette butts or e-cigarettes and fall ill.

However, Garland believes that implementing a ban in such a large public area like a park is very difficult.

They were discussing the park," Galen said. "It's a large and open area. If they're concerned about it, there's really no difference for me breathing the same air as everyone else in the park, even if I catch a cold or something.

The office of DC Reeves, mayor of Pensacola, has issued the following statement to WEAR News:

We hope that all residents and visitors of Pensacola can enjoy our beautiful parks while breathing clean, smoke-free air. This ordinance is a positive step towards creating a cleaner and safer park environment for children and all park-goers, and I fully support Councilmember Jones' initiative to push for its implementation.
