Southampton University Hospital Plans to Become Smoke-Free by 2024
Southampton University Hospital (UHS) has pledged to become smoke-free by April 2024, aiming to eliminate the harmful effects of smoking on patients, staff and the public.

Southampton University Hospital (UHS) health officials have reportedly pledged to make the hospital a smoke-free zone by April 2024, according to recent reports from British media outlet Dailyecho.

The management at Southampton University Hospital is prioritizing health by implementing a smoke-free initiative. This measure aims to eliminate the impact of smoking and secondhand smoke on patients, staff, and the public. The hospital is committed to achieving a completely smoke-free environment, creating a clean and healthy space. As such, the use of all tobacco products, including cigarettes and e-cigarettes, will be prohibited within the hospital premises.

In response to the implementation of the "Smoke-Free Hospital" initiative, the hospital will be introducing a range of support services to assist both patients and hospital staff in gradually overcoming their smoking addiction. This move not only has positive implications for the healthcare environment but also aims to encourage more individuals to take action and resist tobacco in order to maintain their overall health.
