Spain to Further Regulate Novel Tobacco Products
Tobacco and related products manufacturing, presentation, as well as marketing will be subject to stricter regulations in the new Royal Decree.

A new Royal Decree will be introduced to modify the basis of Royal Decree 579/2017, in an effort to regulate certain aspects related to the manufacturing, presentation, and marketing of tobacco and related products in Spain. The aim of the public consultation on the new Royal Decree is to introduce several measures into the existing regulations related to this subject.

 

Points of the regulation

[a] Clear categorization of emerging tobacco products and tobacco-related products;
[b] Introduce measures such as plain packaging, traceability and safety measures;
[c] Ban certain additives and components that may be more attractive to consumers.
