London, UK - A recent series of street interviews conducted in London offered insights into the preferences and habits of vape users, as well as trends in the vaping market. A total of 20 interviews touched on various aspects of the vaping experience, including disposable and refillable e-cigarettes, flavors, and brand choices.
In one interview, a vape user expressed a preference for refillable devices over disposable ones, citing the greater control and customization options offered by refillables. This sentiment seemed to be shared by other users who also preferred pod-based e-liquids like Vape 88.
Fruity flavors emerged as a popular choice among the interviewees, with red apple, strawberry kiwi, mint, grape, and pineapple being some of the most sought-after options. Several vape users also reported a preference for brands that offer a wide variety of flavors, such as Crystal Bars, Lost Mary, and ELUX. One participant stated that they enjoy these brands because they provide a "nice variety of flavors" and "fun tricks."
Most interviewees reported purchasing their vapes from convenience stores, newsagents, or friends. The majority of them were unaware of the trend involving overfilled disposable e-cigarettes, which contain excessive e-liquid content but with a legal concentration, allowing users to enjoy more potential puffs. While some participants expressed concerns about the safety of overfilled disposables, others seemed enthusiastic about the extended vaping experience they provide.
The preference for refillable devices and the popularity of overfilled disposables highlight the diverse range of vaping options currently available in the market. As the debate around the safety and regulation of overfilled disposables continues, it remains crucial for both manufacturers and consumers to remain vigilant and informed about the potential risks and benefits associated with these devices.
When asked if they had heard of the brand VUSE (vape brand of British American Tobacco, with market share tops the list of pod vapes in the US) and Blu (vape of Imperial Brands, a tobacco giant), most interviewees reported negatively. Only 2 claimed they had and one of them was using VUSE regularly.
These street interviews may offer insights into the preferences of vape users, which can help manufacturers and regulators better understand the market trends and the needs of consumers. As the vaping market continues to evolve, it will be interesting to see how these preferences and trends shift in response to changing regulations and consumer demands.
