Khaosod reports that the operation was carried out under the government’s policy to prevent and suppress illegal goods being smuggled into the country. Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Ekniti Nitithanprapas directed the Customs Department to tighten enforcement in line with the government’s “Quick Big Win” policy, and Customs Director-General Phanthong Loikulnan instructed all units to act strictly.

According to the report, Deputy Customs Director-General Sunthariya Thawichaprasit and Customs Region 2 Office Director Lalita Attapimon directed coordinated action involving Region 2 customs control and enforcement units, Mukdahan customs checkpoint officers and regional investigative teams in Thailand’s Northeast. The report says authorities are tracing individuals linked to the shipment for questioning, pursuing legal action and continuing to expand the investigation.

The report states the seized vape pod heads lacked evidence of proper customs procedures and were taken as exhibits. The case is being handled under the Customs Act B.E. 2560 (2017) and other relevant laws concerning importing goods into the kingdom without proper customs formalities.

Khaosod’s accompanying photo shows packaging marked “YOOZ,” and the backdrop sign reads “สำนักงานศุลกากรภาคที่ ๒,” identifying Thailand Customs Region 2.
