On June 3rd, the first day of the Vapexpo in Madrid, staff members from the 2FIRSTS London news center conducted interviews on the exhibition grounds. 2FIRSTS interviewed Julio Ruades, Spokesperson for the Spanish Association of Personal Vaporizer Users (ANESVAP), who shared popular open-system brands and flavor preferences in Spain.

Julio stated that the most popular open system brands in the Spanish market include VAPORESSO, GEEKVAPE, SMOK, UWELL, OXVA, VOOPOO, and VANDYVAPE.

Julio also noted that due to the popularity of disposable products, the Spanish market has experienced a rapid growth recently, with consumers primarily aged between 35 and 45 years old.

Regarding taste, Julio stated that the preferences of Spanish e-cigarette consumers vary with the seasons. For example, during the summer, they tend to prefer fruity and refreshing flavors, while in the winter they enjoy tobacco and sweeter flavors. "However, this also depends on the type of device being used," Julio added.

On the e-cigarette regulatory landscape of Spain, Julio shared that in the news that province regional election that had happen just a week ago the current government party (PSOE) had lost many votes. The push to ban e-cigarette flavors and including e-cigarettes to the tobacco monopoly management is largely supported by the current government. So, if the election in July changes the governing party then it the e-cigarette laws will likely be stalled.

Julio also commented on the the e-cigarette tax rate that the current government is also discussing in politics. The current tax for e-cigarettes in Spain is only the 21% consumption tax that is applied to all normal products such as food. He hopes that if the taxes were to come it would be more reasonable rather than the e-liquid tax in Germany which will inflate the price by 100% or even more.
