【2Firsts News Flash】According to a report released by the World Health Organization (WHO) on June 23, the tenth edition of the WHO Global Tobacco Epidemic Report tracks the progress made by countries in tobacco control since 2008. The MPOWER technical package aims to assist countries in implementing measures to reduce demand as outlined in the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control.

The 2025 report focuses on the W indicator, which warns of the dangers of tobacco. The report shows that 6.1 billion people are protected by at least one of the best practice levels of the MPOWER indicators, with many countries making progress in tobacco control. Currently, four countries have fully achieved the MPOWER indicators, while seven countries are only lacking one indicator. At the same time, there are still 40 countries that have not reached the best practice level of the MPOWER indicators.
