2022 UK E-Cigarette Summit: Reducing Harm and Debate

The British Electronic Cigarette Summit 2022 will be held on December 9 at 9 a.m. GMT at the Royal College of Physicians in London, UK. This summit marks the 10th anniversary of the British Electronic Cigarette Summit.

The rise of disposable electronic cigarettes has brought the debate regarding adult nicotine consumption and protecting children from nicotine back to the forefront. This summit will focus on harm reduction issues that are of concern to the business community, academia, and the general public related to e-cigarettes. Through speeches and discussions, the summit will explore and exchange ideas. Participants can join the summit online, watch speeches, view reference materials, connect with speakers to explore relevant issues, and participate in online Q&A and voting.


The conference schedule is as follows:


Opening Address: Professor Ann McNeill from the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience at King's College London delivered the opening speech. The keynote speech was given by Professor Sanjay Agrawal, the Chair of the Royal College of Physicians Tobacco Advisory Group and Respiratory Professor at the Leicester NHS Trust Fund. He spoke about an independent review of nicotine e-cigarettes in the UK. Other notable talks included a speech by Dr. Debbie Robson RMN, a Senior Lecturer in Reducing Tobacco Harm at the National Addiction Centre of the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience at King's College London, who discussed the flavors of e-cigarettes and the public health issues and regulatory challenges they pose. Professor Maciej L. Goniewicz, a Cancer Prevention and Population Sciences Department Behavioral Sciences Oncology professor at the Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, talked about the absolute and relative risks of e-cigarettes in a broader public health context. The closing keynote speech was given by Deborah Arnott, CEO of Action on Smoking and Health, who talked about the UK government's attitude towards e-cigarettes.
