British American Tobacco Kenya plans to streamline operations in Nairobi factory, cutting 19 jobs to address market pressures.

According to a report from Capitalfm on December 29th, British American Tobacco Kenya has announced plans to streamline operations at its factory in Nairobi, with the intention of cutting 19 jobs in order to streamline operations and respond to market pressures.


In an internal memo sent to employees, British American Tobacco explained that the decision was made after a comprehensive review, driven by multiple factors including increasing regulatory uncertainty, unstable financial frameworks, and the growth of illegal trade. These factors have led to a decrease in cigarette sales and an increase in operating costs.


A portion of the memo states, "This decision is a difficult one for the leadership team. However, it is necessary for enhancing business competitiveness and sustainability.
