Chilean Senate Health Committee Progress on E-cigarette Legislation
Chilean Senate health committee met with the Comptroller General to discuss upcoming regulations, particularly focusing on e-cigarettes.

According to a report from Latercera on December 19th, the Health Committee of the Chilean Senate, represented by Chairman Senator Javier Macaya and Senator Juan Luis Castro, held a discussion with the Comptroller General Dorothy Pérez regarding the progress of some important regulations, with a particular focus on regulations related to e-cigarettes.

Two legislators pointed out that the meeting with the Auditor General yielded significant results, as they learned that regulations concerning e-cigarettes and related products will be implemented by January 5th of next year.

Senator Castro expressed that this announcement is "good news" as it provides a clear legal framework for the use and regulation of e-cigarettes. He mentioned that this law will come into effect on January 5th next year, which is a result of their collaborative effort with the executive branch. This regulation aims to prevent the abuse and improper use of e-cigarettes.
