Enforcement Problems in Implementing Tobacco and E-Cigarette Regulations in Philippines
According to a study conducted by the Institute for Global Tobacco Control at Johns Hopkins University, the Philippines has issues enforcing tobacco and e-cigarette regulations near schools.

According to a report from vapingpost on September 26th, a recent observational study conducted by the Institute for Global Tobacco Control (IGTC) at the Bloomberg School of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University found issues with the enforcement of local tobacco and e-cigarette regulations in the Philippines. These issues include problems with the enforcement of laws regarding the sale of e-cigarettes and tobacco products near schools.

A recent study investigated the sales and marketing of cigarettes, e-cigarettes, and heated tobacco products near schools. A total of 6,617 retailers within 200 meters of 353 urban and rural schools in nine cities and regions in the Philippines were monitored. It was found that the majority of schools had retailers selling cigarettes, e-cigarettes, and heated tobacco products within 100 meters of their premises.

Strict implementation of the existing policy that prohibits the sale and advertisement of tobacco products within a 100-meter radius of schools, along with the enforcement of comprehensive national policies on tobacco advertising, promotion, and sponsorship, can safeguard the well-being of Filipino youth and reduce tobacco-related morbidity rates. "The deaths and illnesses in the Philippines," said Jennifer Brown, investigator and scientist at IGTC.
