France Implements Ban on Disposable E-Cigarettes to Protect Youth
France's disposable e-cigarette ban took effect on February 25 after unanimous approval in Parliament, targeting youth marketing concerns.

According to a report by Francetvinfo on February 25, the ban on disposable e-cigarettes in France went into effect on February 25. The law was passed unanimously in a full parliamentary session on February 13 and was published in the official gazette.

According to the legal text, it is prohibited to possess, sell, distribute, or provide for free, sell, or distribute e-cigarette devices that come pre-filled with e-liquid and cannot be refilled (regardless of whether they come with rechargeable batteries). This ban does not apply to pods.

These devices are popular among young people for their variety of flavors, attractive appearance, and affordability, despite the confirmed risks of nicotine addiction. The ban was passed in the Senate on February 13th, initiated by former Green Party member Francesca Pasquini. Reporter Khalifé Khalifé has criticized this as "a market openly targeting young children with marketing tactics".
