According to a report from the Nottinghampost on February 20th, over 1250 illegal e-cigarettes were seized from three shops in Nottinghamshire, England. These illegal e-cigarettes were confiscated during a joint operation by Nottinghamshire Police and Nottinghamshire County Council Trading Standards team. The East Bassetlaw Police posted on social media, stating, "Over 1250 illegal e-cigarettes worth around £14,000 have been seized from three shops.
The police stated that these illegal e-cigarettes pose a serious health risk to the community and could be very dangerous. Because they are unregulated and untested, they may contain high levels of nicotine as well as harmful or unknown chemicals. Identifying illegal disposable e-cigarettes may be challenging, but any e-cigarette that exceeds 2 milliliters or 600 puffs is illegal.
The police stated, "We will continue to work with cooperating agencies to address this issue together.
This move is part of the government's plan to ban the sale of disposable e-cigarettes in response to an increasing number of young people developing smoking habits.
