According to the Brighton and Hove Trading Standards Authority, a three-day inspection resulted in the seizure of illegal tobacco and e-cigarette products worth over £17,000. These items were found in eight different locations in Brighton and Hove, leading the UK Department of Trade Standards to suspect illegal sales activities in these establishments.
This operation is part of the Brighton and Hove Business Standards' systematic crackdown on the illegal sale of e-cigarettes and tobacco. It has received support from the Sussex Police Tactical Enforcement Unit, K9 search officers, and the organized crime unit in the Thames Valley and Southeast region.
After a visit by trade regulatory authorities to local businesses, in which they provided information and consultation on e-cigarette laws and issues such as underage sales, it has been discovered that a total of 27 merchants were found selling illegal items.
