Illegal Tobacco Products: Joint Operation by Indonesian Customs and Local Government

Indonesia's Marlang customs, in collaboration with the Badu County government, conducted a joint operation to search shops in three districts.

On December 26th, the DDTC news agency reported that the Marang Customs in Indonesia has once again collaborated with the Badu County government to carry out joint operations, conducting searches in stores located in the Batu, Bumiagi, and Juruhu districts.

Marlang Customs Consultation and Information Service Department Chief Prasetiorini explained that this activity is a form of implementation utilizing the revenue-sharing fund of tobacco consumption tax (consumption tax) in the law enforcement domain.

According to the official website of the Customs, it has been found in four enforcement operations conducted since last November that illegal tobacco products in the form of unbranded cut tobacco (SKM) and unbranded packed tobacco (SPM) were being stored and supplied. These illegal cigarettes were discovered without the proper consumption tax stamps, with a total of 39,930 packages, equivalent to 798,600 cigarette sticks.

According to the outcome of the operation, the estimated value of the goods amounted to IDR 1,002,243,000 (equivalent to CNY 464,332).
