Indonesian Prosecutors Destroy Over 47,000 Packs of Illegal Supra Cigarettes
Indonesia's TUBAN Prosecutor's Office destroyed over 10,000 illegal Supra brand cigarettes confiscated by the Border Customs Agency.

According to a report by Beritajatim, the Prosecutor's Office in Tuban, Indonesia has destroyed over 10,000 packs of illegal Supra brand cigarettes confiscated by the authorities. These illegal cigarettes originated from two cases within the jurisdiction of Tuban County, which were uncovered through a joint investigation by the Tuban County Public Security Bureau and the Banyuwangi Customs. A total of 47,350 packs of illegal cigarettes were thrown into the fire at the Prosecutor's Office in Tuban.

Kunawi, the head of the Bengkulu Customs in Indonesia, has announced that a total of 47,350 packs of illegal cigarettes were seized and destroyed in two separate cases in the Tuban County area. Kunawi stated that their mission in Bengkulu and Tuban Counties is to carry out investigations, with the assistance of the Tuban County Police.

Kunawi explains that there is a significant volume of illegal cigarette circulation in Tuban County and reveals that this is due to the Pantura region being a key crime channel, with the majority of cases being uncovered in Tuban County. "Two cases have already been exposed," Kunawi adds.

He also pointed out that the suspects in these two illegal cigarette trafficking cases are Hilmi and Abdul Syukur. The illegal cigarettes found as evidence amount to 47,350 packs, with their production base in Madura. "We are closely collaborating with the Tuban County government, especially the Tuban County Public Security Bureau," said Kunawi.

Kunawi also mentioned that as a result of two illegal cigarette trafficking cases, the country has incurred a loss of approximately 3 million Indonesian rupiahs in fiscal revenue. Hence, they have decided to take action and strongly combat the smuggling of cigarettes.

The head of the prosecutor's office, Armen Wijaya, stated that the confiscated illegal cigarettes were destroyed and were detained by the Bontang Customs office, whose operations spanned Tuban County and Bontang.

Aman Vidyaya believes that these illegal cigarettes are greatly disrupting the regular circulation of taxed cigarettes and are not contributing towards the payment of taxes to the country, thus shrinking overall tax revenues.
