
Brazilian media group Grupo RBS recognized the contribution of Iro Schunke, chairman of the Inter-State Tobacco Industry Union (SindiTabaco), in the development of the state of Rio Grande do Sul, one of Brazil's main tobacco-producing states.
Shunke received the Guri Trophy at a ceremony in Estio City on August 30th. The award recognizes outstanding achievements by citizens in fields such as agricultural enterprises, music, and technology.
Schunke graduated from the Federal University of Santa Maria and has held positions as an agronomist, manager, director, and production supervisor. In addition to leading SindiTabaco, he also serves as a director for the Industrial Union of South Rio Grande State. In 2015, he also served as the CEO of Instituto Crescer Legal, an organization dedicated to promoting professional education for rural young people.
