【2Firsts News Flash】According to secolo on August 3, an e-cigarette explosion incident occurred in Rimini, Italy. A 25-year-old plumber experienced an unexpected explosion while using an e-cigarette, resulting in a head injury requiring 50 stitches, as well as burns on his hands and legs.
The accident occurred on the morning of July 31st when a young man, on his way to work, placed an e-cigarette in his pocket. Unexpectedly, the e-cigarette exploded, causing his left leg to catch on fire. In a panic, he tried to remove the burning device but fell to the ground due to pain and panic, hitting a cement flower pot and sustaining serious head injuries.
The injured were immediately transported to the hospital for treatment and were discharged after a ten-day recovery period. The e-cigarette involved in the incident was purchased at a store, and, although it was a Chinese product, it had CE certification.
The injured party's lawyer, Stefano Caroli, has filed a lawsuit with the Rimini Public Prosecutor's Office accusing Chinese products and Italian distributors, demanding an investigation into product certification. The lawyer also requested the court to seal similar products on the market that may pose safety hazards. Caroli stated that consumers must be warned of this potential danger.
This incident has sparked widespread concern about the safety of e-cigarettes and has prompted a further examination of the necessity to review products on the market.
