JTI's Decision to Continue Operating in Russia
According to a report from TASS on November 3rd, Japan Tobacco International has announced its decision to continue its business operations in Russia. However, the company has also decided not to introduce its new generation of heated tobacco devices to the Russian market.
Sergey Glushkov, Head of Corporate Relations and Communications at JTI Russia, has announced that the company has made the decision to continue operating in Russia in order to ensure consumers are able to access their preferred products.
According to reports, Japan Tobacco International (JTI) has four main factories in Russia. These include the Petro factory in Saint Petersburg, the Kres Neva factory in Leningrad Oblast, the J.T.I. Elets factory in Lipetsk Oblast, the Pereslavl Tabak factory in Yaroslavl Oblast, and the Donskoy Tabak factory in Rostov-on-Don.
The company's subsidiary in Russia has approximately 4,000 employees. They sell cigarette brands such as Winston, Camel, LD, Sobranie, Mevius, and "Russian Style". JTI also markets Ploom's heated tobacco devices in Russia.
