Juul Labs highlighted its JUUL2 e-cigarette system at the 2026 NACS Show in Las Vegas, alongside existing JUUL products, age-verification messaging and mobile coupons for adult nicotine consumers, 2Firsts observed at the exhibition.

The NACS Show runs October 6–9, with the exhibition taking place October 7–9 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

JUUL2 Product Display

JUUL2 featured prominently in the booth's promotional screens, product showcases and retail merchandising displays.

On August 28, 2026, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced marketing authorization for the JUUL2 device and two pod products, Virginia Tobacco and Polar Menthol. The authorized pods contain 18 mg/mL of nicotine, equivalent to approximately 1.5%–1.6%.

According to the booth's promotional materials, JUUL2 offers 20% more battery life and 70% more e-liquid than the original JUUL device. Four LED indicators display battery and e-liquid levels, pod authenticity and app connectivity.

Juul Labs also highlighted its PodID authentication technology and an optional smartphone app for age-verified adults aged 21 and older. According to the company's August 28 statement, the app provides device information and allows users to lock a paired JUUL2 device.

A large merchandising wall displayed existing JUUL products under "CONSISTENCY" signage, while the JUUL2 section was marked "COMING SOON."

Age Verification and Retail Promotions

Age verification was another prominent theme at the booth. A TruAge-branded sign reading "Proud Sponsor" appeared near the reception area, while a wall display emphasized Juul Labs' stated mission to move adult smokers away from combustible cigarettes and combat underage use of its products.

TruAge is a digital age-verification system developed by the National Association of Convenience Stores (NACS) and Conexxus to help retailers verify customers' ages at checkout.

Juul Labs announced its support for TruAge in October 2021. The retail verification system is separate from JUUL2's optional app-based device-locking feature.

Juul also promoted a mobile coupon program. According to a presentation screen at the booth, weekly rotating coupons are available to age-verified adult nicotine consumers through JUUL.com and can be redeemed at participating retail stores.

JTI Proposes 25-Cent Irish Cigarette Tax Increase, Says It Could Raise €45 Million
Japan Tobacco International's Irish business has proposed a €0.25 tax increase on a pack of 20 cigarettes in its pre-Budget 2027 submission, below the €0.50-or-more increases typically imposed in recent Irish budgets. JTI says the proposal could generate around €45 million in additional Exchequer revenue while limiting further movement toward illicit and non-Irish-tax-paid tobacco. Revenue's existing estimate for a comparable €0.25 increase, including pro-rata rises on other tobacco products, is about €18 million for a full year.

From Border-Logistics Insiders to Retail Service Stations, Australia Mounts a Sweeping Crackdown on the Illicit Nicotine Trade as iGET Vapes Surface in A$80 Million Crime Networks
Australian authorities have disclosed two major enforcement actions that go beyond product seizures and retail closures to examine how illicit tobacco and vape networks operate. On Aug. 14, the Multi Agency Strike Team said seven people had been charged and two criminal networks were valued by authorities at a combined A$80 million, or about US$56.8 million. Investigators allege the groups used bonded warehouses, freight businesses and “trusted insiders” in legitimate industries to circumvent border controls. In a separate operation on Aug. 11, more than 100 service stations were targeted as authorities sought information on illicit tobacco importation, distribution networks and the movement of sales proceeds.

Elf Bar Vape Explosion and Amputation Claim Spurs Coverage Suit, U.S. Insurer MUSIC Seeks Ruling It Owes No Duty to Defend or Indemnify Distributor i5
Mesa Underwriters Specialty Insurance Company has asked a federal court in Washington to declare that it has no duty to defend or indemnify vape distributor i5 Distribution in a product liability case involving an Elf Bar BC5000. The plaintiff alleges that the disposable vape caught fire and exploded in his pocket, causing severe burns and ultimately requiring an above-the-knee amputation of his left leg. MUSIC is relying on a tobacco, nicotine or nicotine replacement products exclusion and a premises limitation endorsement. The court has not ruled on the coverage dispute.
