According to Reporter.kg, the Kyrgyz government plans to extend the ban on e-cigarette imports by another six months once the current restriction expires.
The new ban will take effect on July 10
Kyrgyzstan’s Ministry of Economy told Reporter.kg that the new restriction will officially come into force on July 10, 2026.
The ministry said the authorities intend to continue strictly regulating the market for nicotine-containing products.
The ban covers disposable e-cigarettes and nicotine liquids
According to the report, the import ban applies to electronic cigarettes and nicotine delivery systems with built-in nicotine liquid, meaning disposable vapes, classified under EAEU HS code 2404 12 000 0.
It also applies to nicotine-containing liquids in cartridges, tanks, and other replaceable containers for reusable systems, under the same code.
The current extension was signed in late December 2025
The report said the previous order extending the ban was signed in late December 2025 by Adylbek Kasymaliev, the head of the Cabinet of Ministers.
The original import restriction on e-cigarettes and liquids was introduced from July 1, 2025 to January 1, 2026. It was then extended for the current six-month period. The government is now preparing the next extension.
Authorities said the extension is linked to health-law requirements and youth dependence concerns
According to the report, the new extension is being prepared in response to the requirements of the law “On the Protection of Citizens’ Health” and the need for a systematic fight against nicotine dependence. Authorities said this dependence is taking on epidemic proportions among young people.
The Ministry of Economy had earlier also expressed serious concern over the uncontrolled spread of new forms of nicotine delivery.
Import data before the ban was cited as evidence of sustained demand
The report cited import statistics from before the restrictions were introduced, saying that Kyrgyzstan imported nearly 50 tons of e-cigarettes in 2023. In 2024, that figure nearly doubled to 89 tons. In the first eight months of 2025, imports totaled 12.4 tons, indicating that demand remained high.
