Malaysian Trucks Attempt to Smuggle E-Cigarettes into Singapore
Malaysian trucks attempted to smuggle over 16,000 e-cigarettes into Singapore; authorities discovered the contraband during scan checks at Tuas checkpoint.

According to a report by the Oriental Daily News on March 22nd, two Malaysian-registered trucks attempted to smuggle e-cigarettes into Singapore. However, their plan was foiled when enforcement officers at the Tuas checkpoint detected suspicious items during a scan of the vehicles.

On Thursday (March 21), Singapore's immigration authority announced on social media that enforcement officers seized over 16,000 e-cigarettes and related accessories from two incoming trucks within a span of just 4 hours.

A truck carrying aluminum alloy materials was discovered with 9790 e-cigarettes and related accessories, while another truck transporting security seals was found with 6224 e-cigarettes and related accessories in the cargo container.

Currently, two cases have been referred to the Singapore Ministry of Health for investigation.
