Manchester police and Oldham Council conducted a joint raid on a store, seizing counterfeit goods including illegal cigarettes and e-cigarettes.

In a report by The Oldham Times on September 4th, 2025, the Greater Manchester Police (GMP) in conjunction with the Oldham City Council conducted a raid at a store (Euro Shop) located on Hollins Road.

 

The police stated that the operation was based on tips provided by the public and resulted in the seizure of a large quantity of counterfeit goods, including illegal cigarettes and e-cigarettes.

 

Greater Manchester Police emphasizes the importance of cooperation and the role the public plays in helping to combat community crime. Singapore’s Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) intercepted a Malaysian-registered lorry at Tuas Checkpoint and uncovered more than 18,400 e-vaporisers and about 1,400 related components misdeclared as “components for motorised external roll-up blinds.” ICA says this is the largest haul detected at land checkpoints since stiffer penalties for vape offences came into force on Sep 1, 2025. One Malaysian man was arrested and the case was referred to the Health Sciences Authority (HSA).
