Maryland Passes Bill to Regulate E-cigarette Tax, Debate on Flavor Bans Continues
Maryland passes e-cigarette tax bill, signaling progress in regulating ENDS, while debate on banning flavored products continues due to fiscal pressures.

According to a report from the NM Tribune on November 21st, recent developments in the state of Maryland have resulted in the passing of a bill regarding the taxation of e-cigarettes. This legislation signifies a significant advancement in the regulation of Electronic Nicotine Delivery Systems (ENDS) in the state.

 

However, the debate on whether to ban flavored e-cigarette products continues, influenced by financial pressures.

According to Law360, VPR Brands and iMiracle have filed a joint notice in federal court in Florida stating that they have signed a settlement term sheet and plan to finalize a global settlement within 30 days that would resolve multiple lawsuits. The dispute, which began in 2022 and centers on the “Elf” trademark, has involved injunctions, counterclaims and a key ruling by the Federal Circuit overturning a lower court’s order.

Bangladesh’s Advisory Council on December 24 approved the Smoking and Tobacco Products Usage (Control) (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025, aimed at strengthening tobacco control laws.
