Meeting between STMA and British American Tobacco Group Members
State Tobacco Monopoly Administration's deputy chief Wang Gongcheng met with British American Tobacco representatives in Beijing on May 16.

On May 16, Wang Gongcheng, a member of the Party Group and Deputy Director of the State Tobacco Monopoly Administration, met with members of the Management Committee of the British American Tobacco Group who were visiting from the Americas, Asia-Pacific, Middle East, and Africa regions. The two sides held friendly discussions during the meeting in Beijing.

 

Officials from the National Bureau of Foreign Affairs, the Development Planning Department, the E-Cigarette Management Office, China Tobacco Sales Corporation, and China Tobacco International Limited attended the meeting.

China Discloses First Criminal Case Over Counterfeit Vapes Disguised as “Medical Nebulizers” and “Zero-Nicotine” Products
Chinese authorities have disclosed the country’s first reported criminal case involving counterfeit vapes marketed as “medical nebulizers” and “zero-nicotine” products. Authorities determined that the products involved were counterfeit vapes and pursued criminal charges for producing and selling counterfeit goods. According to the report, the case resulted in the seizure of 347,000 counterfeit vape pods and 53,700 vape devices, with physical goods valued at 22.13 million yuan.

Alaska Warns 1,500 Tobacco Retailers Over Unauthorized Vapes and Nicotine Pouches
Alaska Attorney General Stephen J. Cox has sent notices to more than 1,500 tobacco retailers and distributors warning them against selling vape and nicotine pouch products that lack authorization from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). According to the Alaska Department of Law, businesses were advised to verify products against FDA authorization databases and avoid selling unauthorized nicotine products.
