Meeting between STMA and British American Tobacco Group Members
State Tobacco Monopoly Administration's deputy chief Wang Gongcheng met with British American Tobacco representatives in Beijing on May 16.

On May 16, Wang Gongcheng, a member of the Party Group and Deputy Director of the State Tobacco Monopoly Administration, met with members of the Management Committee of the British American Tobacco Group who were visiting from the Americas, Asia-Pacific, Middle East, and Africa regions. The two sides held friendly discussions during the meeting in Beijing.

 

Officials from the National Bureau of Foreign Affairs, the Development Planning Department, the E-Cigarette Management Office, China Tobacco Sales Corporation, and China Tobacco International Limited attended the meeting.

A study of nearly 2,500 university students in Hanoi, Da Nang, Hue, and Ho Chi Minh City found that the average age of first use of e-cigarettes and heated tobacco products was 16.90. The findings were presented on April 9 in Hanoi. The study also found that 14.00% of students had tried e-cigarettes and 3.00% were current users, while the figures for heated tobacco were 6.00% and 0.80%. % of surveyed retail outlets moving to online sales.

Philip Morris Japan announced on April 23 at a product briefing that ZYN by IQOS, an oral tobacco pouch previously launched in selected areas, will expand sales in Tokyo. The company said the product will be released progressively from May 11 through IQOS shops, Lawson and other outlets in the city. The new Argentine framework for tobacco and nicotine marks a shift from prohibition towards registration, traceability, and health surveillance.
