Meeting between State Tobacco Monopoly Administration and PMI
Head of State Tobacco Monopoly Administration, Wang Gongcheng, met with Philip Morris International executives in Beijing on January 16.

On January 16th, Wang Gongcheng, a member of the Communist Party group and Deputy Director of the State Tobacco Monopoly Administration, held a friendly meeting in Beijing with the visiting delegation of Paul Riley, President of East Asia and Australia Region, as well as global duty-free operations leader of Philip Morris International (PMI).

 

The heads of the External Affairs Division, Development Planning Division, Supervision and Administration Division for Monopolized Sales, Economic Operations Division, China National Tobacco Sales Corporation, and China Tobacco International Limited attended the meeting.

On March 17, Smoore International Holdings Limited released its annual results for the year ended December 31, 2025. Revenue reached RMB 14.256 billion, up 20.8% year on year. Gross profit was RMB 4.857 billion, with a gross margin of 34.1%. Profit for the year was RMB 1.062 billion, down 18.5%, while adjusted profit for the year was RMB 1.530 billion, up 1.3%. By segment, revenue from enterprise customers was RMB 11.344 billion and revenue from own-brand business was RMB 2.912 billion.

Philip Morris Korea said on March 31 that it will begin selling the new “Electric Purple” color for the heated tobacco device IQOS Iluma i One at major convenience stores nationwide in South Korea starting May 2. A new Alberta bill aimed at reducing vaping rates, especially among young people, is moving into the legislative process. Bill 208, the Vaping Reduction Act, was introduced by United Conservative Party MLA Chelsae Petrovic and appears to build on the province’s existing Tobacco, Smoking and Vaping Reduction Act. Early reporting suggests the bill could focus on disposable vapes and impose further limits on youth access to vaping products.
