According to a recent report by Russian media outlet VM, the Moscow government has endorsed an initiative by the Public Committee on Youth Smoking Issues and has provided them with 325 advertising spots on city streets and in the subway.
This initiative aims to promote current measures to restrict minors' access to cigarettes and nicotine-containing products. The campaign has received support from the Russian State Duma Youth Policy Committee.
Anna Sorochinskaya, the head of the Public Committee on Youth Smoking Issues, stated:
Unfortunately, we often encounter store owners violating existing laws, and citizens being apathetic towards these violations. As a result, cigarettes and e-cigarettes are falling into the hands of adolescents. Through the combined efforts of society and the government, this issue can be resolved.
According to reports, the promotional materials explain the dangers of smoking and e-cigarettes, including news, analysis, and statistical data. They also include information about laws prohibiting the sale of these products to minors and the corresponding penalties.
