Northerner Withdraws from Tobacco Market to Become Exclusive Retailer for Nicotine Pouches and Other ONDs
Northerner to exclusively sell nicotine pouches and oral products starting December 2024, following declining tobacco sales trend.

According to Business Wire on December 9th, the American online nicotine product retailer Northerner announced that as of December 2024, it will exclusively sell nicotine pouches and other modern oral nicotine products.

Business and International Affairs Senior Director Sarah Krysalka of Northerner pointed out that,

After 25 years entrenched in the smokeless tobacco industry, making the decision to abandon tobacco is not easy. But the trend is clear, with more and more Americans choosing smokeless tobacco products.

After exiting the tobacco market, Northerner will instead meet the growing demand from consumers for nicotine pouches and other modern oral nicotine products. Our goal is to cater to the evolving needs of adult nicotine users while promoting tobacco-free nicotine alternatives to tobacco consumers.

According to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), tobacco sales continue to decline, while the popularity of nicotine pouches is on the rise. From 2015 to 2021, cigarette sales in the United States decreased by approximately 27%, from 12.5 billion packs to 9.1 billion packs. Meanwhile, sales of nicotine pouches and other alternative products in the U.S. doubled from $452.76 million in 2020 to $1.06 billion in 2022.

According to reports, Northerner is part of the Haypp Group. The company claims that since its establishment in 1998, it has grown to become one of the largest online retailers of nicotine pouches globally.
