Perm Region Bans Sale and Advertisement of Nicotine Products
Perm Region in Russia has passed a law banning the sale of e-cigarettes, hookahs, and nicotine-containing products in commercial venues.

According to URA.RU, the legislative body of the Perm Region in Russia has recently passed a law banning the sale of e-cigarettes, hookahs, and nicotine-containing products in commercial exhibition halls within the region.

Additionally, the law also imposes restrictions on the advertisement of these products. The bill was initially proposed and submitted to the parliament by District Chief Dmitry Mahonin.

The bill explicitly prohibits the sale of tobacco or nicotine-containing products, hookahs, and e-cigarettes in exhibition halls within the Perm Krai region. Additionally, the legislation also stipulates that the region cannot promote the sale of these products through signs and architectural lighting.

The bill is set to come into effect on March 1, 2024. However, residents in areas without any retail establishments will be exempt from this regulation.

Violating regulations will result in the confiscation of all assets, including nicotine-containing products and commercial showcases. In addition, advertising billboards and the installation of lighting equipment to promote the sale of these products will also be subjected to presumed fines, with a maximum amount of up to 50,000 rubles.

Previously, Mayor Mahonin highlighted concerns about the sale of e-cigarettes in densely populated areas such as school routes, residential areas, and shopping centers. The unregulated sale of tobacco often poses a threat to the health of children.
