Poland Government Decides to Ban Sale of HTPs
Polish government has decided to ban the sale of heated tobacco products, with legislation expected to be implemented next year.

According to a recent report by Poland's Businessinsider, the Polish government has made a decision to ban the sale of heated tobacco products. Wojciech Konieczny, the Deputy Minister of Health in Poland, stated that the proposed legislation is currently being discussed internally and is expected to soon enter the legislative process.

Konieczny added, "Perhaps the regulations will be implemented starting next year, but before the ban is officially enforced, the government will first hold in-depth discussions with relevant industry producers."

The EU Tobacco Directive prohibits the introduction of flavored heated tobacco products into the EU market and removes exemptions granted to member states regarding certain labeling requirements for these products.

By the end of 2023, Poland was lagging behind in enforcing EU bans, prompting the European Commission to issue a warning and urge Poland to take action as soon as possible. Just last week, Poland's Minister of Health, Izabela Leszczyna, mentioned that she is planning to study policies related to banning disposable e-cigarettes.

U.S. ITC Reopens PAX Labs Case Against STIIIZY, ALD; Domestic Industry Status at Center of Dispute
The U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) has announced a partial review of a key ruling in PAX Labs' patent infringement case against STIIIZY and ALD, focusing on whether the economic prong of the "domestic industry" requirement was properly assessed. While the commission previously found some of PAX's patents valid and infringed, it ruled that PAX had not demonstrated sufficient U.S. economic investment to establish a domestic industry, and therefore did not find a violation.
