Research: Vape Use to Exceed Traditional Tobacco

E-cigarette usage predicted to surpass traditional tobacco in the coming years, with similar health risks identified.

According to a report by Turkish media outlet NTV on December 26th, research predicts that e-cigarette usage will surpass traditional tobacco in the coming years. A study presented at the annual conference of the American Heart Association revealed that frequent users of nicotine from e-cigarettes performed worse on a treadmill test used to measure the risk of heart disease compared to non-tobacco users, indicating similar harmful health effects to traditional tobacco.

New research conducted in a laboratory has revealed a potential association between e-cigarettes and certain types of cancer. According to data from Action on Smoking and Health, an organization against smoking and promoting health, nearly one in every 20 teenagers aged 11 to 15 in England regularly use e-cigarettes.

Experts are concerned that certain components of designed e-cigarettes are intended to entice teenagers by incorporating flavors such as blackberry, posing a potential risk of nicotine addiction for the younger generation.
