22nd Century Group, an American tobacco company, appoints Robert Manfredonia as new EVP to lead sales and marketing efforts.

According to Investing on July 30th, American Tobacco 22nd Century Group announced the appointment of Robert Manfredonia as the new Executive Vice President, responsible for sales and marketing.


According to reports, Manfredonia has held important positions at several renowned companies, including senior vice president roles at Bonavita Beverage Group and Eastside Distilling, as well as management positions at Miller Brewing Company and Southern Glazer's Wine and Spirits. With nearly thirty years of experience in the consumer goods industry, particularly in the regulated adult beverage sector, including distilled spirits, wine, and beer. His addition is aimed at strengthening the sales strategy for the company's main product, VLN cigarettes.


The President and CEO of the company, Larry Firestone, expressed confidence in Manfredonia's efforts to drive growth in the company's brand and products.


The 22nd Century Group holds a patent for controlling the biosynthesis of nicotine in tobacco plants and has developed tobacco and cigarettes with low nicotine content. In December 2021, the company received the first and only FDA authorization for an improved risk tobacco product. This aligns with the FDA's comprehensive plan aimed at reducing smoking-related deaths and illnesses.


According to data, the company's current market value is $5.83 million. In the past twelve months (ending in the first quarter of 2024), the company's revenue has dropped significantly by 36.57%. Despite strategic appointments, the company continues to face immense challenges.
