Iasi, Romania plans to set up "no-smoking zones", with e-cigarettes and cigarettes both included in the restrictions
The Iași City Council in Romania has announced that it is preparing a smoking ban plan, which aims to prohibit smoking and the use of e-cigarettes in public places such as public transport stops, children's playgrounds, and sports venues. This measure will make Iași the second city in Romania to implement such a ban, following Cluj. Violators will face fines ranging from 100 to 500 lei (approximately 25 to 125 US dollars).

According to Romania TV on August 20th, the city of Iași in Romania has become the second city, after Cluj, to restrict smoking and e-cigarette use in public places.

 

In the resolution draft of the local council, it is proposed to completely ban all forms of smoking in the following places: public transport stations; children's playgrounds; sports venues and recreational facilities.

 

In certain areas, such as parks or beaches, smoking will only be allowed in specifically designated areas.

 

The Yaxi City Council will reserve 60 days after passing this resolution to mark and appropriately designate these areas.

 

These areas will be marked with large signs that say "No Smoking" along with the appropriate symbols.

 

Those who do not comply with the new regulations will face fines ranging from 100 to 500 lei (approximately 25 to 125 US dollars). The proposal is still in a 10-day public consultation phase. The final decision will be made at the end of August or the beginning of September.
