
According to a report from TASS news agency, on April 10th, the Russian State Duma's Committee on State Building and Legislation proposed amendments to increase fines for selling tobacco products, hookah and nicotine-containing product consumption equipment to minors.
Currently, the Russian Federation's Administrative Offenses Code, Article 14.53, has established fines for such violations. For citizens, fines range from 20,000 to 40,000 rubles. For officials, fines range from 40,000 to 70,000 rubles, and for legal entities, fines range from 150,000 to 300,000 rubles.
The proposed amendment suggests imposing fines ranging from 30,000 to 50,000 rubles on citizens, fines ranging from 100,000 to 200,000 rubles on officials, and fines ranging from 300,000 to 500,000 rubles on corporate entities.
The bill passed its first reading on March 14th and is currently undergoing its second reading.
