Singapore Sees Surge in E-Cigarette Offenses in 2024
Singapore authorities have fined over 14,000 people for possessing and using e-cigarettes in 2024, double the number in 2023.

According to a report by 8world on January 8, 2024, over 14,000 people in Singapore were fined for possessing and using e-cigarettes. This figure is almost double compared to the previous year in 2023.


Furthermore, Singapore authorities have found five cases involving e-cigarette pods containing etomidate. Minister of Health Ong Ye Kung stated in a written reply to questions from Members of Parliament Desmond Choo and Sun Xueling, that as of December 31 last year, the Health Sciences Authority had taken down approximately 6,800 e-cigarette advertisements, doubling the number from 2023.

During a recent routine traffic stop, New South Wales police discovered a large quantity of illegal tobacco and vapes hidden inside a rental truck, including approximately 942,000 cigarettes and more than 15,000 e-cigarettes, with an estimated value of nearly AUD 2 million. The 31-year-old driver was arrested at the scene and the case has now entered judicial proceedings.
