During the investigation of Operation "Humeros," the Civil Defense Guard discovered multiple stores selling e-cigarettes without authorization, and these products did not comply with the Ministry of Health's requirements for manufacturing, labeling, and distribution.
The Civil Defense Guard suspects that these products were illegally brought into Spain and "the vast majority are obtained by unauthorized importers from outside the EU.
The agency has recommended penalties for smugglers and for violations of regulations on the manufacture, display, and sale of tobacco products and related items. In addition, inspections of different stores are still ongoing.
In Spain, product information, whether containing nicotine or not, must be in Spanish. In addition, the maximum concentration of e-cigarettes should be 2%, or 20 milligrams per milliliter. The maximum capacity for disposable e-cigarettes is 2 milliliters, and refill liquid bottles should have a capacity of 10 milliliters. Products must have detailed information and warnings: "This product contains nicotine, which is a highly addictive substance. Not recommended for non-smokers.
