On September 12, the Brazilian Federal Highway Police (Polícia Rodoviária Federal) announced that they successfully intercepted 320 e-cigarettes and 43 sets of e-cigarette accessories at kilometer 332 of the BR 153 highway.
During a routine inspection, the Brazilian Federal Highway Police intercepted a long-distance bus traveling from Goiânia to São Miguel do Tocantins. Upon inspecting the vehicle's luggage compartment, they came across a package containing 30 e-cigarettes and 3 sets of e-cigarette accessories.
The following afternoon, along the same stretch of road, the police stopped a long-distance bus traveling from São Paulo to São Luís. During the inspection of the luggage compartment, they discovered another package containing 290 e-cigarettes and 40 sets of e-cigarette accessories.
However, the passengers carrying this batch of goods were not found, and the driver could not associate it with any traveler.
Due to significant violations of Brazilian regulations, this shipment of e-cigarettes and accessories was ultimately classified as contraband. Consequently, the items were confiscated and sent to the tax office in Palmas for further investigation.
