On May 20th, 2FIRSTS learned from industry sources that the well-known e-cigarette brand SKE's parent company, Sikary, recently launched a new brand called VFLY and released its first product, the VFLY C1.
25,000-puff Disposable
According to information on the official website, the VFLY C1 is a disposable e-cigarette that claims to provide the "world's first real-time atomization visual experience." The device's screen can display real-time battery usage, remaining e-liquid, and different modes. The design is similar to the circular display interface of an Apple Watch.
It is reported that the three adjustable modes are ULTRA, RICH, and TASTY. In TASTY mode, the product can provide up to 25,000 uses. It is worth noting that this is not Sikary's first e-cigarette product with a capacity of 25,000 puffs.
In addition, the VFLY C1 is equipped with three mode selections. Users can switch modes using the button on the top of the device or enable the child safety lock.
Sikary representatives have introduced 2FIRSTS to the layout of the SKE brand in the American market, stating "In fact, three large-sized products have already been launched this year, namely the B12000, Bi15000, and the latest MG25000."
Similar to mainstream products in the US market, the VFLY C1 is equipped with "Crystal" dual heating coils and has a battery capacity of 850mAh. The specific specifications of this device are as follows:
- Battery capacity: 850mAh
- Nicotine strength: 50mg
- Number of puffs: up to 25,000 puffs
- Charging type: Type-C
- Coil: Dual mesh coil
The VFLY C1 product is primarily advertised as being able to deliver up to 25,000 puffs. It is not intended to be sold in the EU or UK markets, but the product is shown with the official UKCA marking, indicating that it meets the necessary requirements for the UK market.
5-Month Preparation
The establishment of the VFLY brand and the launch of its products had been prepared well in advance. According to publicly available information, the domain name vflyvape was registered on December 25, 2023. The earliest webpage snapshot dates back to April 23, displaying only a brand showcase at that time.
According to information from LinkedIn, the person in charge of the VFLY brand primarily focuses on the North American market, especially the United States market.
Go Independent and Expand to the United States?
According to the information compiled and disclosed by the website 2FIRSTS, VFLY was previously a cotton core technology brand under Sikary before becoming an independent disposable e-cigarette brand. It primarily focuses on optimizing the technology of key components such as the atomizing cotton, heating wire, and airway in its e-cigarettes. The official website of VFLY brand indicates that it is supported by Shenzhen Sikary Technology Co., Ltd., which boasts an advanced laboratory, 3000 employees, and a 50,000 square meter workplace.
VFLY registered a trademark in the tobacco smoking accessories category as early as 2020, but the trademark application registered in 2024 has undergone significant changes in its overall design, which is also the official trademark displayed on the VFLY website.
As of now, Sikary has at least three e-cigarette brands targeting the US market, including its flagship brand SKE and two new brands MEMERS VAPE and VFLY.
Based on the activity of X from SKE (formerly on Twitter), it appears that they have been active since the end of 2023, with recent posts mostly featuring promotional images and text for their new product, the SKE MG 25000. Similar to other popular products this year, the SKE MG 25000 also comes equipped with a "large screen."
Previously, 2FIRSTS conducted an analysis on Sikary's disposable e-cigarette brand MEMERS VAPE. During the American TPE Expo held from January 31 to February 2, 2024, the brand showcased two products Switcher S20000 and Melody ME18000. Following this, they also participated in the VAPEXPO exhibition in Paris from March 23 to 25.
However, MEMERS VAPE has not evolved towards larger screens, instead emphasizing its artificial intelligence attributes - "HiSMK" - in its promotion. According to the company, this platform is supported by AI as the underlying technology, connecting and interacting with users for e-cigarette culture exchange and services. It utilizes AI big models to continuously evolve consumer demands, ultimately achieving full chain functionality from idea to consumer (I2C).
The launch of the VFLY brand may signify Sikary's further expansion into the US e-cigarette market. The existing technology brand VFLY can more effectively integrate resources, including research and development, production, and marketing, to improve operational efficiency and management levels.
In the US market, several e-cigarette brands are being introduced to target different consumer groups and meet diverse demands. Currently, SKE maintains its original product range with options ranging from 600 puffs to 25,000 puffs. MEMERS VAPE is positioning itself as a "smart" e-cigarette, while VFLY is focusing on "large screen" interactive features.
In addition, by using multiple brands, Sikary can create different brand images and product features, avoiding brand homogenization and increasing market competitiveness.
Starting from the second half of 2023, the disposable e-cigarette market in the UK has been noticeably impacted by policies. Sikary, which sees the UK market as a key revenue area, may need to reposition itself in the United States across the ocean. A significant fact is that its parent company, Yinghe Technology, has repeatedly mentioned in response to investor questions that Sikary has achieved good development in the UK and other European markets since 2022.
However, in another key pillar of the e-cigarette market, the American market, Yinghe Technology has hardly mentioned its development trends.
In 2024, Sikary will be able to occupy advantageous positions in various niche markets by introducing its existing SKE brand to the US market, along with the MEMERS VAPE and VFLY brands. This will cater to both high-end smart technology demands and provide products with interactive features and large screens.
2FIRSTS will continue to keep an eye on Sikary's new brand VFLY.
