Thai Police Raid Three Vape Warehouses in Chiang Mai, Seize 36,555 Items Worth US$200,000
Thai police raided three vape storage sites in Chiang Mai, arresting two women and seizing 36,555 vape items worth over ฿6.6 million（US$200,000）. Authorities estimate annual turnover at about ฿30 million（US$920,000） and are pursuing financial backers.

2Firsts, October 28, 2025 — According to the Royal Thai Police, authorities in Chiang Mai have dismantled a major online vape distribution network, seizing over 36,000 vape products worth more than ฿6.6 million（US$200,000）.

 

Deputy Police Chief Pol. Gen. Thatchai Pitaneelabut and Region 5 Commander Pol. Lt. Gen. Kritthaphon Yeesakhon announced the operation, which targeted online sales of e-cigarettes via the website Vapehaus (vapehaus.net).

 

Investigators found the group sold vapes through online orders and postal delivery. On October 27, officers raided three sites — one in Mueang Chiang Mai and two in Hang Dong District — uncovering hidden storage areas used for packaging and distribution.

 

Police seized 36,555 vape items valued at ฿6.6 million（US$200,000） and arrested two suspects, Kabisada (40) and Kritsana (31), both Chiang Mai residents. They confessed to being packaging staff earning ฿16,000 per month.

 

The operation also uncovered three LINE official accounts used for orders, with a total of 18,000 members. Financial analysis indicated an annual turnover of about ฿30 million（US$920,000）.

 

Authorities are now tracing the supply chain and identifying the financial backers behind the operation. The case forms part of Thailand’s national cybercrime suppression campaign, initiated under Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul’s directive to combat online illegal trade.

China’s State Council has appointed Zhang Xiaotang as deputy director of the State Tobacco Monopoly Administration, with the regulator’s official website now listing him as a Party leadership group member and deputy director. Eleftheria (Ria) Kioupritzi, a biopharmaceutical professional with more than 15 years of experience, has joined Philip Morris International as Director Scientific Affairs within Corporate Affairs. She previously served at Roche as Senior Scientific Communications Director for Neuroscience and Rare Diseases and worked extensively in spinal muscular atrophy. U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Company, an Altria Group company, has broken ground on an approximately $250 million manufacturing expansion in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. KT&G will launch the lil Tonino Lamborghini heated tobacco device in Seoul on September 15, 2026. The product introduces a new heating technology called Flashwave Heating, which uses microwaves to heat tobacco sticks internally and delivers a manufacturer-rated heat-up time of about three seconds. The device features an all-metal aluminum body, a color display and a dedicated GUI, and launches alongside a new line of NAU tobacco sticks that are incompatible with existing lil consumables. Korean media describe the product as KT&G's first new heated tobacco platform since lil AIBLE was introduced in 2022.

GSTHR Estimates 200 Million People Use Non-Combustible Nicotine Products as 28 Countries Show Rising Use Alongside Falling Smoking Rates
The Global State of Tobacco Harm Reduction, a project operated by Knowledge·Action·Change, estimates that about 200 million people worldwide use non-combustible nicotine products including vapes, heated tobacco, nicotine pouches and snus. Its 2026 report says use of these products rose alongside declining smoking rates in 28 countries it analyzed. The data do not establish that all 200 million users have quit smoking, nor do they prove a direct causal relationship. GSTHR also says regulatory restrictions on the products continue to expand in many markets.
