2Firsts, December,26 2025 – According to Anadolu Agency,Turkey is continuing work on a draft amendment to the Regulation on Commercial Advertising and Unfair Commercial Practices, which includes stricter measures targeting e-cigarette and gambling advertisements.
Officials said the draft regulation, which plans to introduce significant sanctions across several areas, particularly for gambling and e-cigarette advertising, was presented to industry representatives last month for consultation. The process of collecting and evaluating feedback is ongoing, and the amendments are expected to be finalized and enacted after comprehensive assessment of the submitted opinions.
The draft includes regulations on discounted sales, conditional sales, advertisements created using artificial intelligence systems, influencer-based marketing, and promotional practices such as “loot boxes” in digital games.
Additional provisions address “surprise content or boxes,” “virtual product packages,” environmental claims in advertising, publication of consumer complaints, and targeted advertising. E-cigarette and gambling advertisements are explicitly proposed to be banned. While previous rules covered illegal betting and tobacco advertising, the amendments classify e-cigarettes and gambling as separate categories subject to prohibition.
