World Vapers' Alliance Protests Outside World Health Organization
World Vapers Alliance protests outside WHO in Geneva, demanding recognition of e-cigarettes as harm reduction tools.

According to a recent report by the World Vapers Alliance, the World Vapers' Alliance (WVA) held a protest in front of the World Health Organization in Geneva on World Vape Day.

 

Participants in the event urged the global health organization to listen to consumers' voices and acknowledge that scientific evidence supports e-cigarettes, nicotine pouches, and similar products as effective harm reduction tools.

 

The organization expressed concerns about the prevalence of a "misinformation epidemic" surrounding tobacco harm reduction, stating that this misunderstanding is fueled by misleading information and prevents millions of people from switching to scientifically proven less harmful alternatives.

The World Health Organization has turned World No Tobacco Day into a propaganda day. Sweden is on the verge of achieving a smoke-free status through alternative nicotine products. The World Health Organization needs to stop suppressing alternative nicotine products and start supporting them as key to achieving a smoke-free future. The WHO's erroneous statements are fueling a deadly epidemic of misunderstanding. Smokers should understand the truth: the health risks of e-cigarettes are far less than smoking. Accurate knowledge can save millions of lives.

PMI’s U.S. business released a white paper and cited a national online survey showing that 79.00% of Americans surveyed believe more should be done to reduce smoking-related harm. The paper calls on policymakers, public health authorities, and medical professionals to place cigarette smoking back at the center of public health priorities, and recommends broader access to FDA-authorized smoke-free alternatives, clearer nicotine risk communication, and risk-based taxation.

U.S. Senator Dick Durbin on May 13 criticized the Trump Administration’s Food and Drug Administration for approving the sale and marketing of fruit-flavored e-cigarettes for the first time, while also allowing some illegal vaping products to remain on the market. China’s e-cigarette export value declined to $694 million in April 2026, marking the lowest April level in the past three years. The data is notable because April was the first full month after China removed export VAT rebates for certain e-cigarette products. Compared with April 2025, export value fell 20.9%; compared with April 2024, it was down 22.3%. Month-on-month, exports dropped 23.2% from March 2026.
