On the afternoon of September 13th, the "Nicotine Pouch Innovation and International Regulatory Development Forum" hosted by 2Firsts successfully concluded. The first speaker at the forum was Leona Zhu, Editor-in-Chief of 2Firsts, who delivered a speech on the theme "Embracing the explosion of new product categories: global trends and recommendations for nicotine pouches." Chen Zuxin, associate researcher and doctoral supervisor at the Brain Institute of the Advanced Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Shenzhen, gave a presentation on the topic of "Research Progress on the Psychoactive Effects of Nicotine and the Development of Evaluation Techniques." Professor Chen shared the latest research findings on evaluation techniques for the psychoactive effects of nicotine, providing attendees with cutting-edge information on this research field.

He discussed the vital role of microcrystalline cellulose as an essential pharmaceutical excipient in the development of lozenge products, providing attendees with in-depth insights into the application of microcrystalline cellulose in lozenge development.

A consumer survey by Japanese heated tobacco information platform RELAZO found that rising tobacco prices and planned heated tobacco tax changes may influence smoking decisions among Japanese consumers. The survey covered 49,879 men and women aged 20 to 69 nationwide. It found that around 40% of respondents cumulatively indicated they may consider quitting when a pack reaches ¥600 (approximately US$4.1), while nearly 90% expressed potential quitting intentions at a ¥1,000 (approximately US$6.8) price level. The survey also found significant differences by income level, with lower-income respondents showing greater sensitivity to price increases.
