In the last 10 months the Federal Customs Service of the Russian Federation has seized from illegal circulation more than 19 tons of drugs and more than 78 million packs of cigarettes, already surpassing the figures of last year. This was stated by the head of the Federal Customs Service Vladimir Blavin at the "Government Hour" of the Federation Council.

According to the head of the Federal Customs Service, despite all the simplification and support measures, it is possible to maintain the effectiveness of quality control and to combat the illegal activities of unscrupulous enterprises. In 10 months, nearly 79 billion rubles (about 9.13 billion yuan) were recovered through additional control measures, 56 percent more than last year, he said.

"There have been 122,000 administrative cases opened and 1,600 criminal cases, and more than 2 billion rubles (about $230 million) in fines have been collected,” Blavin said.

He added that more than 19 tons of drugs and potent substances have been seized in illegal circulation, as well as more than 78 million packs of cigarettes." These figures have already exceeded those for the whole of 2021," the Federal Customs Service director stressed.
