
According to a report from local Spanish media, La Voz de Almería, the police in Almería, Spain have arrested an individual who is suspected of illegally cultivating Cannabis Sativa (marijuana) within a residential property in the Campohermoso-Níjar area of La Cañada de los Kapitanes. The suspect had also illicitly connected to the electricity grid.
The operation was initially launched by personnel from the main police station in Níjar, who discovered the possible existence of a marijuana plantation during their activities aimed at analyzing and preventing drug distribution, cultivation, or processing across Almería province.
The police officials are conducting an investigation to search for evidence to confirm the existence of a cultivation operation. The distinct odor emanating from a closed-window house, along with the constant sounds of ventilation and air conditioning, confirmed the presence of the cultivation. Additionally, they have also gathered necessary information to ascertain the identity of the house owner and occupants.
After obtaining court authorization, the police conducted an inspection and search of the residence, resulting in the discovery of over 230 cannabis Sativa plants, as well as various lighting and ventilation equipment used to enhance cultivation efficiency. During this process, the authorities also collaborated with the power supply company to uncover illegally connected electrical wires.
The Guardia Civil of Almería, during an operation, apprehended the individual residing in the said property, who was responsible for cultivation, in accordance with the law. The suspect is believed to be involved in offenses related to public health and electricity fraud.
