Authorities Bust Huge Counterfeit Tobacco and E-cigarette Operation
Ningbo Customs seize fake cigarettes and e-cigarettes worth nearly 3 million yuan, cracking down on smuggling activities.

According to a report from China Industry and Economic Information Network on June 26th, Ningbo Beilun Customs, Beilun Customs Anti-Smuggling Sub-Bureau, and North Ningbo Tobacco Monopoly Bureau have fully utilized their geographical advantage near the port to jointly establish a cooperation mechanism for combating counterfeit tobacco and smuggling. They successfully seized 1.6 million counterfeit "Manchester" brand cigarettes and 12,800 counterfeit "IGET" e-cigarettes, with a total value of nearly 3 million yuan.

Authorities Bust Huge Counterfeit Tobacco and E-cigarette Operation

According to reports, these departments discovered a batch of goods expected to be exported to Germany in a joint operation, including counterfeit cigarettes and e-cigarettes. These goods are usually labeled as wooden picture frames, men's shirts, etc., but after being identified by the tobacco monopoly department, they were found to be fake cigarettes and counterfeit e-cigarettes.

Currently, the clues of the case have been transferred to the public security authorities, and the case is being further investigated.

According to sources, this batch of smuggled counterfeit cigarettes and e-cigarettes not only violates laws such as the Customs Law and Trademark Law, but also hinders the normal development of the domestic tobacco industry and seriously damages China's foreign trade image. In response, customs, anti-smuggling, tobacco and other departments have decided to enhance cooperation and continue to crack down on counterfeit tobacco products to ensure market stability and port order.

The company stated that there is frequent misinformation in domestic media and advertising about the sale of counterfeit IGET products, as authentic IGET products are only distributed through official channels to overseas markets. Any IGET products circulating in the domestic market are counterfeit.
