Brazilian police seize nearly 2,000 illegal e-cigarettes, including brands like "Elfbar" and "Ignite."

Brazil's Federal Police carried out the largest seizure of e-cigarettes to date on November 1, according to the Diario de Pernambuco on November 3.

The police report states that 1,829 e-cigarettes were confiscated in the town of Águas Belas, involving multiple brands such as "Elfbar" and "Ignite." A driver was arrested on the spot for smuggling and trafficking.

During the inspection, federal police also found 518 Chinese-brand mobile phones, with none of the goods accompanied by invoices.

The arrested driver, with about 25 years of driving experience, admitted he was hired to transport 17 boxes of mobile phones and e-cigarettes, earning between 70 (USD 12) and 100 reais (USD 18) per box. He claimed he was unaware of the illegal nature of the goods and only sought extra income by transporting them.

He was eventually released after a bail hearing and will continue to be investigated under provisional release.
