Brazilian Federal Police Seize 500 e-cigarettes in Brasília Enforcement

Brazilian Federal Police stopped 500 e-cigarettes en route from Foz do Iguaçu to Brasília, violating Anvisa regulations.

According to Maisgoias on August 19th, the Brazilian Federal Police intercepted 500 e-cigarettes being transported from Foz do Iguaçu to Brasília last Friday night (16th).

According to the police, this batch of e-cigarettes was seized in the Recanto das Emas leisure community in the federal administrative district. Authorities intercepted a passenger bus during a routine inspection and found six boxes in the luggage compartment that did not have proper tax documentation. Inside the boxes, police discovered 500 e-cigarettes.

Since 2009, the Brazilian National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) has banned the sale of e-cigarettes.

The identities of the individuals involved have not yet been revealed. The items have been handed over to the Brazilian Federal Revenue Agency.
