BAT appoints Matthew Wright as Independent Non-Executive Director, effective November 1, 2025
Matthew Wright appointed as independent non-executive director of British American Tobacco, effective November 1, bringing extensive international executive experience.

In a press release dated October 15, 2025, British American Tobacco p.l.c. announced that Matthew Wright will be joining the company's board of directors as an independent non-executive director on November 1, 2025. Wright will also serve as a member of the remuneration committee and the nomination committee.

Wright has extensive international executive consulting and leadership experience, focusing their career on helping large enterprises recruit and develop senior management talent during periods of transformation and growth.

 

Between 1993 and 2013, he held multiple positions at Russell Reynolds Associates, including CEO, president, and board member, responsible for the firm's operations in Asia and Europe. He also served on the global executive and operating committees. Prior to this, he had worked at Korn/Ferry International, Knight Wendling, and Cripps Leadership Advisors.

 

Chairman of the British American Tobacco Board of Directors, Luc Jobin, stated: "We welcome Wright's addition to the board. Cultural transformation is crucial for BAT's sustainable future, and his addition will further strengthen this process. His leadership experience in multinational organizations in Asia, Europe, and the United States will bring valuable insights to the company.

 

Wright currently serves as a non-executive director and chair of the remuneration committee at Berry Bros. & Rudd Ltd. He is also the chairman of Cripps Leadership Advisors and holds advisory and chair positions at Movemeon.
