Claudia Woods Appointed as CEO of British American Tobacco Brazil
Claudia Woods appointed as CEO of British American Tobacco Brazil, becoming first female leader in company's history.

According to Meio & Mensagem on January 20th, British American Tobacco Brazil (BAT Brasil) announced the appointment of Claudia Woods as the new Chief Executive Officer.


Claudia has held important positions such as CEO at companies like Uber, WeWork, Webmotors, and Banco Original. She will succeed Victor Loria as the first female leader of the company as he prepares for retirement.

NAKD nicotine pods have been launched overseas with a pouchless solid-pellet design, featuring a “garlic clove–like” appearance that is smaller than traditional nicotine pouches. Made from compostable materials and positioned around instant nicotine release, the product is developed by Norwegian brand Den Norske Snusfabrikken and is already available in several European markets.

Thailand Chonburi provincial police, in coordination with multiple agencies, raided a large-scale warehouse in downtown Chonburi used for producing and distributing e-cigarettes and vape liquids. Kazakhstan’s Astana Baikonur District Fines Illegal Smokeless Tobacco Sales Over USD 5,800
Authorities in Astana’s Baikonur District have intensified enforcement against illegal smokeless tobacco and related products in 2025. Police conducted 59 inspection raids, identifying 63 cases of illegal sales of smokeless tobacco (nasvay). Total fines imposed reached KZT 3,096,450（approximately USD 5,880）. Officials said inspections and preventive outreach will continue.

Maldives Customs Report Vape Fines Reach US$42.8 Million, Mostly from Malaysia Imports
Maldives Customs data shows that fines related to illegal vapes have reached MVR 659 million (about US$42.8 million) since the country banned the import and use of electronic cigarettes. Authorities said most seized vapes were brought in by travellers arriving from Malaysia. The largest single case involved 10,800 vapes, resulting in a fine of MVR 108 million (about US$7.02 million).
